The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has urged President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declare his assets publicly prior to his inauguration, taking place on May 29, 2023.
In a statement by its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP called on the incoming administration to follow through on its electoral promises, including prioritizing the rule of law, media freedom, and curbing corruption.
SERAP emphasized that transparency in asset declarations would promote public accountability and help to end systemic corruption in the country.
As President Muhammadu Buhari will hand over leadership to Tinubu, SERAP’s call for accountability highlights the need for transparency in governance at the highest level in Nigeria.
