Action Alliance Denies Major General Lincoln Ogunewe as Imo Governorship Candidate

The Action Alliance Party has disclaimed reports that Major General Lincoln Ogunewe is their candidate in the Imo State governorship election scheduled for November 11, 2023. The party’s leadership has described the claim as fraudulent and untrue.

The chairman of the party in Imo State, Comrade Ifeanyi Eze, released a statement on Sunday, stating that Chief Ukadike Humphrey remains the authentic candidate of the party. He further urged the public to disregard the rumour, stating that Ogunewe’s emergence is not recognized by the Action Alliance party.

It will be recalled that a Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja recognized Hon. Dr. Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje as Action Alliance’s National Chairman on November 11, 2022, ruling against Kenneth Udeze who has been parading himself as the National Chairman.

According to Eze, the party conducted its governorship primary election in Imo State on April 17, 2023, in line with guidelines stipulated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The primary produced Chief Ukadike Chinedu Humphrey as the party’s governorship candidate.

Eze expressed his concern and embarrassment that Kenneth Udeze who was expelled from the party, continued to mislead the public by ridiculously presenting Rtd. Gen. Lincoln Ogunewe as the governorship candidate of the party, against the subsisting Court of Appeal’s judgement. He also noted that the retention of Udeze’s name as the National Chairman of Action Alliance on INEC’s website by Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the National Chairman of the electoral umpire, is a contemptuous act.

Eze emphasized that the party would not hesitate to press charges for contempt of court against both Kenneth Udeze and Prof. Mahmood Yakubu if they fail to retrace their steps. He called on Imolites to disregard the activities of these impostors and reiterated that Chief Ukadike Chinedu Humphrey is the sole candidate representing the Action Alliance party in the forthcoming governorship election in Imo State.
