The Bishop of Kutigi Diocese, Rt Rev. Jeremiah Ndana Kolo, has called on the incoming President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to distinguish himself from previous leaders by curbing the rampant killings, kidnappings, and other social vices in Nigeria. Kolo made this statement during his address at the yearly Synod held at St Peter’s Anglican Church Gbangbagi in Lavun Local Government Area of Niger State.
The theme of the synod was “The Confidence of Faith and Submission,” and Kolo spoke out against the high rate of kidnappings for ransom, reckless killings, and ransacking of villages and towns, especially in Niger State. He emphasized the need for proactive measures to check the menace by getting to the root cause of banditry and militia groups in the country while punishing the perpetrators.
Kolo believes that Tinubu has all it takes to raise the country to its highest level by securing the lives and properties of its citizens, making it the primary responsibility of the government at all levels.
The bishop also urged the government to address the increase in the petrol pump price of N300, which has worsened the suffering of the masses. Kolo noted that the recent cashless policy was illogical and detrimental to the economy.
In light of these challenges facing Nigeria, Anglican Communion urged Tinubu to take immediate action to help create a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.
