In addition, he commended the leadership and members of the National Assembly for their support and cooperation in making democracy thrive in Nigeria on the principles of separation of powers.
On security challenges, Buhari stated that his administration had made considerable progress in reducing banditry, terrorism, armed robbery, and other criminal activities. He called on Nigerians to sustain the gains made by being more vigilant and supporting the security agencies. The president expressed sadness over those citizens still in captivity, and promised that the security agencies are working tirelessly to reunite them with their families unharmed.
Buhari also spoke about his commitment to tackling corruption in Nigeria. He expressed happiness that considerable progress had been made in repatriating huge sums of money back to the country. The outgoing president also mentioned the properties illegally acquired from Nigeria’s commonwealth, which have been recovered.
Overall, President Buhari expressed his gratitude to Nigerians, stating that he was confident that the incoming administration would continue to steer Nigeria on the path of greatness.
