Oshiomhole Committed to Consensus Candidacy for Senate Presidency

Former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has expressed his commitment to a consensus arrangement that would produce the next Senate President. In an interview with journalists after a meeting with some Senators-elect in Abuja, Oshiomhole advocated for Godswill Akpabio as the party’s choice for the position.

As a Senator-elect representing Etsako Central Senatorial District, Oshiomhole believes that a smooth transition between the executive and legislative arms of government would be in the interest of the nation. To this end, he assured that efforts would be made to bring all interests for the 10th Senate Presidency together and align them with the President-elect’s desires.

“As a former National Chairman of the APC, I’m ready to put all issues behind and work for the actualization of the Akpabio project,” Oshiomhole said. He encouraged incoming Senators to avoid a power tussle between the executive and legislature, stating that it would not be beneficial for the country.

The former Governor of Edo State believes in a consensus arrangement that would allow the next administration to start on a good note. Oshiomhole remains committed to supporting Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, saying, “Since this is the best for Asiwaju, that is the best for me, for Nigeria and for my people.”
