The Ogun State Government has temporarily shut down several roads in Abeokuta, the state capital, to prepare for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s second-term inauguration. The event is set to take place today at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.

Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has informed drivers that there will be a traffic rerouting inbound and outbound the stadium axis this morning. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for TRACE Corps, stated that the NNPC flyover would be cordoned off to road users, and traffic would be diverted underpass.

He further added that alternative routes and parking spaces would be designated and supervised by security and safety officials. Akinbiyi explained, “There will be traffic diversion at NNPC to the right towards Abiola Way-Leme-Iyana/Mortuary for vehicles coming inbound Abeokuta from Sagamu/Interchange-Laderin-Okemosan axis.”

In addition, buses coming from outside Abeokuta through Sagamu/Interchange for the inauguration would be diverted at the NNPC to the right towards Abiola-Way-Leme Junction and make a U-turn to the left inbound NNPC, before turning right towards the stadium through the road/gate opposite Providence Hotel.

He also mentioned that there would be no access road for vehicles coming from Iyana/Mortuary towards NNPC except those scheduled for the event. Traffic from Kuto to the stadium and the NNPC would also be diverted towards IBB Boulevard-GTBank-CBN, and Ibara Baptist Church.

TRACE Corps assured that it would collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to minimize and avoid gridlock on all routes to and from the stadium. With these measures in place, the government has ensured the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of those attending Governor Abiodun’s inauguration.
