The inauguration of the new President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, was celebrated by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in major towns across Osun State on Monday. Party members gathered at designated locations in Ila, Iragbiji, Ikire, Iwo, Osogbo, and Ife to follow Tinubu’s swearing-in ceremony on television before holding celebrations thereafter.
At the residence of former Interim National Chairman of the APC, Chief Bisi Akande, in Ila, party members gathered and celebrated Tinubu, while in Iragbiji, the town of the immediate past governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola, APC members also engaged in partying to welcome the new president. In Osogbo, many party members were present at the APC state party secretariat where a band entertained supporters.
Speaking with The Punch, Adegboyega Adelabu, who served as the Special Adviser, Youth and Sports to the ex-governor, Oyetola, stated that the celebration of Tinubu’s inauguration was taking place across the nine federal constituencies in the state. He added that this event was ongoing in other federal constituencies such as Ede, Ikire, Ife, Ilesa, Ijebu-ijesa, Ila, and Ikirun.
In the meantime, the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, congratulated Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on his successful inauguration in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode. Governor Oyebanji described the new President as “a seasoned administrator and strategist who has the wealth of experience to turn the fortunes of Nigeria around positively, making use of abundant human and material resources”. He also stated that Nigeria is in safe hands for sustainable development, economic revival, sustenance of infrastructure renewal, reduction of poverty, wealth and job creation with Tinubu in the driving seat.
Additionally, the Niger Delta Youth Council, a sociopolitical group in the South-South, congratulated Tinubu on his successful inauguration and urged him to prioritize the proper development of the Niger Delta region and focus on infrastructure development, so as to cast his name in gold.
