Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has commended the National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for calling on the Federal Government to embrace subsidy policy.

In a statement released on his official Facebook page, Fayose described Tinubu as “a true Nigerian leader who is concerned about the plight of common people”.

According to Fayose, Tinubu’s call to embrace subsidy is a move towards stabilizing the Nigerian economy, which has been adversely affected by the removal of subsidy on petrol.

Fayose opined that Tinubu’s argument for Nigeria to adopt subsidy policy is valid as it will help to alleviate the suffering of Nigerian masses and stabilize the economy.

He stated that if Tinubu had not called on the government to reintroduce subsidy, the masses would have continued to suffer and the situation of the country would worsen.

Fayose, however, cautioned the present administration against politicizing the issue and rather concentrate on finding a lasting solution to the nation’s economic challenges.

He further called on President Muhammadu Buhari to focus more on governance, and stop chasing those perceived as political enemies.

Fayose had earlier criticised the President for his silence on the issue of subsidy, which he considered a major factor responsible for the suffering of Nigerians.

He encouraged the government to take decisive actions that will make life bearable for Nigerians.
