The Ogun State Police Command has officially announced the appointment of Omolola Odutola as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) following the redeployment of its former spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, to Oyo State.
During his time as the PPRO in Ogun State, Oyeyemi expressed his gratitude to the media for their support throughout his tenure and for making his job easier. He also acknowledged that his popularity was beyond his expectations, while emphasising that it was time for him to move on to other service areas.
The new PPRO, SP Omolola Odutola, is a trained lawyer and criminologist who enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police as a member of ASP Course 25, 2012. She was previously stationed in the Ondo State Police Command and was the first Public Relations Officer of the Maritime Command, Force Headquarters Annex, Kam Salem House, Obalende, Lagos.
Odutola is an alumnus of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State, and she is a member of several professional bodies including the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
The Ogun State Police Command has expressed its confidence in the abilities and professionalism of the new PPRO and has called on members of the public to offer her the same level of cooperation given to her predecessor.
It is worth noting that this announcement comes at a critical time when the issue of police brutality and abuse of power has come to the forefront on various social media platforms. It is expected that the new PPRO will continue to enforce the regulations and policies regarding the conduct of police officers. Furthermore, it is essential that she continues to maintain transparency and accountability, ensuring that the public is well-informed about police operations and activities in Ogun State.
