A witness from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has made a shocking revelation at the Kogi state governorship election tribunal. The witness stated that he was forced to sign the presidential election results under duress in Kogi state.
The witness, who testified on Thursday, revealed that he was summoned by a senior Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) official who forced him to sign the result sheet. He claimed that the official threatened to kill him if he refused to comply with their demand.
The PDP witness further disclosed that they were locked up in a room for several hours without food or water. They were only allowed to leave after signing the result sheet, which showed that the All Progressive Congress (APC) won the presidential election.
The tribunal, which started hearing the Kogi state governorship election petition earlier this week, is expected to address various issues surrounding the conduct of the polls. The PDP had approached the tribunal following the return of the incumbent Governor, Yahaya Bello, for a second term in office.
The PDP witness’s testimony raises concerns about the credibility of the electoral process in Nigeria and the safety of those who participated in it. It is hoped that the tribunal’s investigation will uncover the truth and restore faith in the country’s electoral process.
It is important to note that suicide is not the solution to electoral discrepancies. The citizenry is encouraged to desist from taking actions that could harm themselves or others. It is advisable to report any concerns or grievances about the electoral process to the relevant authorities.
