Popular Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede, has come out to refute reports that she secretly married Regina Daniel’s husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
The rumoured wedding, which was said to have prompted Yvonne to delete all her pictures on Instagram, was described by the actress as untrue and malicious.
She took to her Instagram page on Friday to address the issue, urging people not to believe everything they see online.
Yvonne also chastised the writer of the rumour-filled post, calling them out for trying to destroy her reputation.
The actress stated that many people often believe everything they read or hear online. She condemned the writer for spreading falsehood and intentionally damaging other people’s reputations to attract readers to their blogs.
In her post, Yvonne Jegede said, “This funny post is evil and false in every intent. I won’t waste my energy fighting you. Karma is already dealing with your destiny because if you had one, you wouldn’t be all gassed up about other people’s lives when yours is tattered.”
Ms. Jegede resolutely challenged those propagating the false tale, asking them how deleting pictures from her Instagram page hinted at a secret wedding.
She also took exception to the writer for referencing her son, noting that the mention was inappropriate and uncalled for.
Yvonne Jegede ended her post by pouring derision on the concocted tale, insisting it was nothing more than a figment of someone’s wild imagination.
It appears that celebrities are particularly prone to fall victim to fake news, as Yvonne’s case is one in a long list of unwarranted rumours that have circulated about Nigerian celebrities in recent times.
