Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio Set to Join PSG

Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio, a highly revered attacking midfielder, has left the Los Blancos’ as a free agent, and is set to join Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The news of Asensio’s imminent departure was revealed by football transfer specialist, Fabrizio Romano, in a tweet via his verified Twitter account on Saturday.

It was gathered that Asensio had already informed Real Madrid of his decision to leave the club last week.

“The decision was made last week. Marco Asensio leaves Real Madrid as a free agent,” Romano tweeted.

“Asensio is set to complete details of his new chapter at Paris Saint-Germain in the next few days.”

This season, Asensio played 50 games for Real Madrid scoring 12 goals and contributed eight assists to the team, but only started 18 games under the tutelage of manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Asensio’s departure from Real Madrid may mark the end of an era for the Los Blancos but the Spanish giants are known for their ability to attract quality players.

Meanwhile, PSG’s acquisition of the Spanish star is set to bolster the club’s attacking options for the upcoming season, with the expectation that Asensio’s creativity, versatility and experience will be an asset to manager Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

However, Asensio’s move comes at a period when suicide and self-harm has become a major concern globally and Facebook has put measures in place to avoid the proliferation of contents that encourage people to harm themselves.

As such, it is essential for football enthusiasts to remain mindful of their choice of words and actions on social media while discussing Asensio’s transfer to avoid falling afoul of Facebook policies on self-harm and suicide.
