Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has spoken up in defense of Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith church, Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Christian Centre, and other pastors who supported the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
He cautioned Nigerians against referring to the pastors as fake and asked them not to blame the men of God because they only wanted change in the country.
According to Primate Ayodele, the pastors did not give prophecies but made declarations and offered prayers. He also highlighted that the opposition candidates did not heed the prophetic direction given to them and should be blamed rather than the pastors that supported them.
In his words, “People should stop attacking men of God who supported Peter Obi for the presidency. You can’t blame them because all they want is change”.
Responding to the criticism of Nigerian pastors, he rhetorically asked why anyone should blame them for the outcome of the election when those who received prophetic direction did not listen.
Primate Ayodele emphasized that he was referring to pastors who supported Obi’s candidacy, not those who made negative prophecies against some candidates. He also clarified the difference between prophetic declarations and prophecies, saying that the former is a representative of your will before the Lord and serves to shift situations.
He was clear in his view that pastors who seek support and prayers for a candidate are not God and that Nigerians should stop blaming prophets for the situation and the state of affairs in the country.
