Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has assured that his government will work tirelessly in maintaining cordial relationships among all arms of government.

Adeleke gave this assurance while addressing lawmakers during the inauguration of the 8th Osun State House of Assembly on Tuesday.

Media Talk Africa recalls that Governor Adeleke on Sunday dissolved the 7th Assembly headed by Timothy Owoeye and proclaimed the 8th Assembly.

Lawmakers on Tuesday elected Adewale Egbedun, the lawmaker representing Odo-Otin State Constituency as Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly.

Addressing the lawmakers, Adeleke noted that the legislature is a critical symbol of democracy and that as a former lawmaker, it was his sacred duty to ensure cordial relationships among all arms of government.

In his words, “I will spare no effort in that direction.

“Our task as elected officials is service to the people. We must abandon all personal interest to service public expectations.

“Our approach has been local content, direct labour and value for money within the context of due process.”

He sought support of the 8th Assembly for the continuation of the good governance revolution.

“That goal is only achievable with a supportive Assembly. The exercise of your power for the people and public good is my solicitation,” he said.

Meanwhile, the new Speaker, Adewale Egbedun has revealed that the Assembly would collate and review all the bills passed into law and assented to by the immediate past parliament and executive, respectively, in the state.

According to Egbedun, this is with a view to reviewing some obnoxious laws that were made after the July 16 governorship election in the State.

“I also use this opportunity to announce that our leadership will collate and review all last minute bills passed and assented to by the outgoing administration.

“We have reports and records of many bills assented to which contain obnoxious provisions and clauses that may not be in the best interest of the state,” he stated.
