Panic in Anambra Assembly as armed men try to whisk away member-elect

There was panic on the Anambra State House of Assembly as 4 armed men, suspected to be operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, tried to whisk away a member-elect for Nnewi North constituency, Mr Onyekachukwu Ike.

The armed men drove into the Assembly advanced in three autos and grabbed the member-elect after he participated in a valedictory thanksgiving mass for the seventh Assembly.

They pressured the member-elect into their car and have been making an attempt to drive out of the Assembly advanced when safety personnel rapidly locked the exit gate.

The Acting Clerk of the Assembly, Mrs Esther Aneto, and different senior employees lamented that the suspected DSS operatives didn’t inform them and even the Police personnel on the Assembly earlier than making an attempt to whisk Ike away.

One of the suspected DSS operatives, nevertheless, defined that that they had a court docket order to arrest the member-elect.
