Former NNPP National Chairman Told to Cease Parading Himself as BoT Leader

The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has been embroiled in a leadership tussle as the South West Chairman, Prince Ademola Ayoade, has asked the former national chairman of the party, Boniface Aniebonam, to cease parading himself as the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party.

Speaking out on Saturday, Ayoade revealed that the party has not constituted its BOT, and therefore, no one can officially declare themselves as the Chairman or Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the NNPP.

According to Ayoade, “the leadership has stipulated the position of a Chairman and Secretary for the board, but to be official, the board has to be formally constituted and members will appoint one of them as the chairman.”

Ayoade went on to advise Aniebonam to desist from parading himself as the NNPP’s BOT Chairman, adding that “if Aniebonam wants the title of spiritual leader, he should go and establish a church.”

While it remains unclear how the leadership crisis within the NNPP will be resolved, Ayoade believes that discipline must be instilled within the party to ensure that it remains a formidable political force in the country.
