Mr Adebowale Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, a renowned comedian has shared his ordeal with depression after being expelled from the University in 2017. He disclosed that the incident had plunged him into depression as it was the fourth institution he would attend at that time.
Speaking through his Twitter handle, the skit maker narrated how he had been battling depression from 2017 to 2018. The expulsion was a major contributor to the depression he felt at that time. He also revealed that he had been previously expelled from three other universities leading to a prolonged stay in school.
Furthermore, Mr Macaroni revealed that he had suffered a second round of depression in 2018 due to the inability to secure acting roles. He spoke about how he had been auditioning for Nollywood roles from 2011, from one audition to another with no success. He went ahead to say that he was scammed repeatedly with payment for forms for auditions.
However, he shared that things turned around for the better in late 2019 when he started creating content and posting them online. He recounted how he had received a lot of love and undying support from fans which translated into him becoming a star.
Mr Macaroni, who had been earlier expelled from the University, was, however, readmitted and eventually graduated successfully.
The comedian’s story highlights the need for society to pay attention to mental health and the impact it has on the wellbeing of individuals. It is hoped that Mr Macaroni’s story will inspire many others who may be experiencing depression to seek help and never give up on their dreams.
