Doctors Without Borders (MSF) revealed that its staff was coerced in making a propaganda video in support of Sudanese paramilitary, Rapid Support Forces (RSF), to extend medical aid to those in dire need. The RSF has been in confrontation with the Sudanese army for about two months. MSF admitted in a statement released recently that its employees were “obliged” to make the video and it violates humanitarian principles. The paramilitary, composed of tens of thousands of fighters, released the footage on Friday, featuring a uniformed man with a group of MSF workers. In the film, they asked workers if they had experienced any treatment like illegal acts, coercion and violence in the hands of RSF personnel.
In the video, an MSF employee claimed that they can work without disturbance since their humanitarian principles are respected. Meanwhile, MSF has proposed that it is not allied with any party amid the conflict and they aim to aid populations require medical care. About 1.6 million people have fled their homes since the onset of the conflict. The warring factions consented on a new 24-hour ceasefire, effective as of 6 a.m. local time (0400 GMT) on Saturday, after hitherto breaking ceasefires repetitively.
