The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has installed 17 newly elected village heads within the Bida Emirate, charging them to make security their top priority.

The ceremony was held at the Etsu Nupe palace in the Bida Local Government Area, where Abubakar urged the new village heads to ensure that residents in their communities have their lives and property safeguarded.

The Etsu Nupe reiterated that traditional rulers have a crucial role to play in maintaining peace and justice, thereby providing support to the government at all levels.

“This is the only way their domains can achieve the desired level of development considering the current realities of myriad challenges facing the country and the strategic positions of traditional rulers”, he added.

Among the newly installed village heads are Alhaji Mohammed Kudu of Kashi Koko, Alhaji Musa Ndace of Somaji, Mal Ibrahim Katamba of KoloDzuru and Abubakar Alhassan of Etson.

Also included were Alhaji Umaru Adamu of Zhiluko, Alhaji Mohammed Kudu of Kpatagi, Zubairu Umaru of Kagowogi, Ibrahim Zubairu of Emiwoshi, Aliyu Goyi of Dagba, Ma’agi Buku of Alhaji Mohammed Kudu, Bazhi of Alhaji Mohammed and Alhaji Man Yahaya.

The installation ceremony witnessed a large turnout of well-wishers, who expressed their support for the peace agenda of the new village heads, including that of the Etsu Nupe.

On behalf of the other village heads, Ndace assured the Etsu Nupe that they would perform their duties with diligence and commitment to the development of their areas, Kini Nupe, Niger State and Nigeria as a whole.

“We will do everything within our power to advance the growth of our areas, Kini Nupe, Niger State and Nigeria as a whole,” he pledged.

The Etsu Nupe urged the community to maintain their support for the peace agenda, as well as being vigilant to avoid any acts that could tarnish the area’s good reputation.
