Governor Yusuf Commends Kano Taskforce for Successful Evacuation of Waste

In a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Environment, Ismail Gwammaja, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has commended the Joint Task Force’s exceptional performance in clearing waste from the state. The governor expressed his gratitude to the committee for evacuating over 600 trucks of waste within a week of its operation.

During the presentation of the report at the weekend, the governor through the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Abdullahi Bichi, commended private companies and construction firms for supporting the government in its efforts to keep the environment clean by helping in the ongoing evacuation of waste in the state.

Governor Yusuf further encouraged the taskforce to continue the good work by consolidating on its achievements so far and ensuring that all nooks and crannies of the Kano metropolis are free from waste.

The governor also reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing a safe and healthy environment for the people of the state. To achieve this, he urged residents to complement the government’s efforts by avoiding indiscriminate dumping of waste, particularly on waterways and major roads, as it is a matter of collective responsibility.

In his presentation, the Chairman of the Committee, Amb. Haruna Danzago, assured the governor that the task force is fully committed to the development of the state. He stated their readiness to work hard to ensure that Kano remains clean and free from waste.

The state government has warned that it would no longer tolerate any act of dumping waste indiscriminately and called on residents to report any illegal dumping of waste to the relevant authorities.

This commendation from the governor is a recognition of the hard work put in by the Joint Task Force, which has helped to keep the state clean and safe for all residents. The government’s efforts in waste management will also go a long way in preventing diseases caused by improper waste disposal.
