The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced plans to meet with petroleum product marketers in the state to discuss how to effectively apply the planned palliatives for fuel subsidy removal to ease the financial burden of the people.

In his Democracy Day message, signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, and released in Uyo on Monday, the governor commended Nigerians for their resilience in ensuring that democratic values and traditions are continued.

He stated, “In the coming days, we will hold meetings with the relevant stakeholders, especially the petroleum products marketers in our state, to explore ways and means of ensuring that the planned palliatives are applied to cushion the effects of the removal of the fuel subsidy.”

The governor recognized the heroism of the late MKO Abiola, who was a symbol of Nigeria’s democratic struggle, and acknowledged the important role played by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the fight for democracy. He also acclaimed the people of Akwa Ibom State for their commitment to democratic ideals and their A.R.I.S.E. Agenda which focuses on continuous progress and good governance.
