Future Uncertain for Super Eagles as Peseiro Keeps Quiet

As the expiration of Super Eagles’ head coach, Jose Peseiro’s contract draws near, it remains uncertain whether the Portuguese manager will continue in his role.

Despite the anticipation and speculations of fans and football analysts, Peseiro has refused to disclose any information concerning his future with the Nigerian team. His contract is due to end by the close of the month, with reports suggesting that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is not extending his contract.

Peseiro assumed the duties of the Super Eagles’ head coach on May 15th, 2022.

The Portuguese manager was approached about his contract situation during the Super Eagles’ first training session in preparation for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone’s Leone Stars. However, he emphasized that his attention is on preparing the team for Sunday’s game so they can secure a victory and qualify for AFCON.

“My future with the Super Eagles is to train today, tomorrow and prepare for the Sierra Leone game, beat them and qualify for AFCON,” Peseiro stated.

The Super Eagles’ head coach would lead the team against the Leone Stars in Liberia’s Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium on Sunday. The match is a make-or-break encounter for Nigeria, and a triumph would grant them access to the AFCON which would take place next year in Cameroon.
