In a federal courthouse in Miami, former US President Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to 37 charges related to the alleged mishandling of classified documents. During his arraignment on Tuesday, Trump’s lawyers requested a jury trial to stand before a judge.

“We must certainly enter a plea of not guilty,” said Todd Blanche, Trump’s attorney. At the time of filing this report, the hearing had ended.

Before his arraignment, the former President was booked by deputy marshals, who also took electronic copies of his fingerprints. However, Trump was not photographed because of his recognizable facial features. The entire booking process took around 10 minutes. Walt Nauta, Trump’s aide and co-defendant, was also arrested, fingerprinted, and processed.

This case marks the first time a former US President will appear in court on federal charges. Although Trump declared his intention to run for the presidential election in 2024, the trial has been described by him as a “witch-hunt” by the Joe Biden-led Administration.

As developments continue to unfold, many will be closely following the outcome of this case in one way or another.
