In a disturbing turn of events, a group of unidentified gunmen have abducted seven students from the University of Jos. The incident took place on Monday night at their hostel located outside the campus, according to DSP Alfred Alabo, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Police command in the state.
The students were reportedly kidnapped while studying for their second semester examinations that were set to begin on Tuesday. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Bartholomew Onyeka, has swiftly responded by deploying armed police personnel to arrest the kidnappers and ensure the safe release of the abducted students. Additionally, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) and other security agencies have also joined the effort by deploying their personnel for a thorough search and rescue operation.
As news of the incident spreads, fear and concern have gripped the University of Jos community. However, DSP Alabo has urged both students and residents in the area to remain calm, assuring them that security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped students.
