In a recent interview on the ABTalks podcast, Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, revealed that he shares a close friendship with Portuguese football sensation Cristiano Ronaldo.
Davido, who made history as the first Nigerian artiste to perform at the FIFA World Cup final in Qatar last year, expressed disdain for those who ridiculed Ronaldo after Portugal’s elimination from the tournament.
“Look at [Cristiano] Ronaldo when he left the World Cup. He is my friend, by the way. He is my very good friend,” Davido stated emphatically.
The singer expressed his disappointment at the online trolls who subjected Ronaldo to abuse despite his achievements. Davido had vivid memories of browsing the internet and witnessing the overwhelming criticism directed towards his dear friend.
This is not the first time Davido has expressed admiration for Ronaldo. In his hit song ‘Fall,’ released in 2017, he paid tribute to the football icon. And interestingly, Davido is the only African artiste that Ronaldo follows on Instagram, strengthening their bond.
Davido, renowned for his talent and success in the music industry, continues to make headlines both locally and internationally.
