Former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has made an urgent plea to President Bola Tinubu to launch a thorough investigation into the killing of over 37 herdsmen in a devastating bomb blast that occurred in Nasarawa State on January 25.
Initially, 37 victims were laid to rest after the incident, but sadly, the death toll rose to 40 in the subsequent aftermath.
This tragic incident, which took place in the Rukubi community of Doma Local Government Area, sent shockwaves across the nation, with various stakeholders accusing influential politicians of orchestrating this deadly attack.
In addition, operatives of the Nigerian Air Force were also implicated in carrying out this unfortunate assault.
While some Nigerians believe that the incident was an accidental military strike, others firmly believe that the attack was sponsored by politicians who opposed the activities of the herders in the region.
Sanusi, who recently met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House, informed journalists that he had written a letter to President Tinubu, urging him to address this matter promptly.
The former Emir revealed that a similar letter was previously sent to former President Muhammadu Buhari, but regrettably, it was not given the attention it deserved.
Sanusi expressed hope that President Tinubu would take swift action to delve into this matter and find out the truth behind this atrocity.
He stated, “I came to appeal to President Bola Tinubu on the case of the 37 Herdsmen who were bombed by the Nigerian Airforce in Nasarawa a few months ago, which we wrote a letter to President Buhari on.
“We have written a reminder because it is a case we do not want to forget, and he (Tinubu) promised to look into the matter”.
