Rising Nigerian hip-hop artiste, Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has recently opened up about the life-altering moment that came just before his music career took off. In a candid interview on the Body & Soul podcast hosted by renowned singer, Joeboy, the talented rapper recalled his near-death experience and how divine intervention paved the way for his breakthrough.
Odumodublvck vividly recounted the challenging period in 2022 when he underwent a major surgery that left his life hanging by a thread. “You can hear the way I’m talking? It’s not because of these [teeth] grills, it’s because I did one operation [surgery]. I almost died but God kept me here right now,” he revealed. The rapper’s survival became the turning point in his journey to musical success.
It was during his recovery phase that an unexpected turn of events occurred. Odumodublvck received a call from his friends informing him that Grammy award-winning singer, Wizkid, had shared his song ‘Picanto’, featuring Zlatan Ibile, on social media. This remarkable gesture from a music icon became an unmistakable sign from God, assuring the young artist of his impending success.
Describing the incredible moment, Odumodublvck said, “The day Wizkid posted my stuff was the day I was being discharged from the hospital…I woke up in the morning, I saw a message at 7 am, I saw Machala…And I checked my Instagram, everybody was sending me that Wizkid posted ‘Picanto’. And that was like the first thing that God used to tell me that, yo, I’m with you, everything that is going to be happening from here onwards, it’s going to be more than what eyes have seen, ears have heard.”
The rapper’s musical journey hasn’t been a smooth ride. He revealed that during his recovery, he had to endure the pain and inconvenience of consuming baby food for two weeks and bearing the aftermath of a surgery that required sixteen stitches in his mouth. However, he remains grateful for his survival and the subsequent opportunities that have come his way.
With his resolute spirit and determination, Odumodublvck has risen above adversity and is now making waves in the Nigerian music industry. His unique style and lyrical prowess have caught the attention of both fans and fellow artists, promising a bright future ahead.
