Radda leads North-West governors to meet with Tinubu

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State took charge as he led his counterparts from the North-West region to a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The meeting mainly focused on addressing security concerns and enhancing agricultural development in the region.

Joining Governor Radda at the Presidential Villa were governors from Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states. With the aim of finding solutions to the increasing security threats, particularly banditry, that have plagued the North-West region, the governors engaged in fruitful discussions with President Tinubu.

Highlighting the crucial link between security and agriculture, the governors emphasized the need for enhanced security measures to enable farmers to access their farmlands without fear. The North-West region has long been recognized for its agricultural prowess, and it is imperative that this reputation is upheld through effective security measures.

Responding to the concerns raised by the governors, President Tinubu assured them of his unwavering support and pledged to work closely with them to improve security in the region. As agriculture remains a top priority for his administration, President Tinubu expressed his determination to ensure that Nigeria becomes self-sufficient in food production, leaving no stone unturned in this pursuit.

Beyond security and agriculture, the President also discussed the recent removal of fuel subsidies. Recognizing the potential impact on the citizens of their respective states, President Tinubu assured the governors of his commitment to work with them on providing palliatives to alleviate any negative consequences resulting from this policy change.

The meeting between the North-West governors and President Tinubu marks the first gathering of its kind, and it sets a precedent for open dialogue and collaboration between regional leaders and the federal government. This new era of cooperation signifies the commitment of all parties involved to tackle the pressing issues of security and agricultural development, with the ultimate goal of ensuring a prosperous and secure North-West region for all its inhabitants.
