Renowned politician, and former governorship aspirant in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill, was struck by tragedy as he recently lost his beloved father.
In a statement personally signed by Prince Tonye Princewill on Saturday, he announced the passing of his father, King Prof. T.J.T Princewill, Amachree the XI and Amanyanabo of the Kalabari Kingdom.
Urging for support and prayers in this difficult time, Princewill’s statement read, “The King has departed. Long live the Kingdom.”
Grief-stricken, Prince Tonye Princewill expressed his deep sorrow and affection for his late father. He stated, “It is with a very heavy heart that I am formally announcing the departure of my father, our King and His Serene Majesty, King Prof. T.J.T Princewill, Amachree the XI and Amanyanabo of the Kalabari Kingdom. He was not just my father, he was also my best friend.”
As per Kalabari tradition, the Buguma Council of Chiefs and the Kalabari Council of Chiefs were informed about the sad event. This was done before making the official announcement to the world, respecting the cultural norms and traditions of the Kalabari Kingdom.
In the days and weeks to come, the family will release further information regarding funeral arrangements and other related matters. Prince Tonye Princewill humbly requested prayers and well-wishes, not just for his family, but for the entire Kalabari Kingdom, as they navigate this immense loss. His father’s presence will be dearly missed by all.
