Transfer: Cucurella set to join Chelsea’s EPL rivals to play Champions League

Chelsea defender, Marc Cucurella could be set to join Newcastle United this summer.

Eddie Howe is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of their return to the Champions League next season.

The Mirror reports that Cucurella has been added to his list of targets despite a poor first year at Stamford Bridge.

Dan Ashworth, who is now the sporting director at St James’ Park, was involved in luring the fullback from Getafe to Brighton during his spell at the Amex.

And the Magpies could once again convince Cucurella to move to another Premier League outfit, his third in as many seasons.

New Blues boss, Mauricio Pochettino is also willing to let a number of players leave in a bid to trim a bloated squad, and Cucurella may find himself on the chopping block.

However, Chelsea would have to take a significant hit on their £62million man.
