Association of Nigerian Professionals in the UK Urges Tinubu to Introduce Measures to Alleviate Hardship Caused by Subsidy Removal

In the wake of the recent fuel subsidy removal in Nigeria, the Association of Nigerian Professionals in the United Kingdom (UK) has called on President Bola Tinubu to implement measures and policies that will mitigate the negative effects on the Nigerian populace.

The group, known as the ‘Association of Nigerian Professionals in the United Kingdom’, also expressed their support for President Tinubu’s decision to remove the subsidy, describing it as a breeding ground for fraudulent activities.

In a statement signed by the coordinator of the group, Comrade Innocent Udoidiong, the association emphasized the need for the federal government to continue developing people-centered policies and programs that will enhance the welfare of vulnerable Nigerians.

Udoidiong praised President Tinubu for demonstrating the political will to eradicate the infamous fuel subsidy policy, which has long been used by corrupt individuals to exploit the system.

The statement further called for the prompt implementation of measures aimed at reducing the hardships inflicted on Nigerians as a result of the subsidy removal. The group stressed that while the removal of the subsidy is meant to curb corruption, it should not lead to unnecessary suffering among the citizens. Urgent action is crucial, according to the statement.

Udoidiong emphasized that only well-coordinated economic policies and programs can drive sustainable development and progress in the country.

He described President Tinubu and his Vice President, Kashim Shettima, as strategic leaders with vast experience and extended his congratulations to them on their election victory and subsequent inauguration.

The group also commended President Tinubu for upholding the zoning arrangement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by supporting the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President and Tajudeen Abbas as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
