In a stunning revelation, former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has shared how God saved him from a potentially fatal plane crash during the presidential election. Furthermore, he revealed that his wife miraculously triumphed over cancer during the 2023 presidential campaign.
Upon receiving the devastating cancer diagnosis for his wife, Wike confided in the leaders of his campaign team, which included the influential G-5 Governors. At that moment, the former governor contemplated withdrawing from the race due to this unforeseen challenge.
However, his resilient wife encouraged him to persevere and continue with his campaign, despite the daunting circumstances. This unwavering support from his spouse became a source of strength for Wike during the arduous electoral journey.
The revelation of these providential interventions came to light during a special Thanksgiving service organized by the Wike family at St. Peters Deanery in Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor area of the state on Sunday.
During his speech, Wike also disclosed the harrowing incident of a mysterious fire that occurred in his wife’s room, resulting in the destruction of her personal belongings while he was away on a campaign trip.
Reflecting on these incredible events, Wike expressed his gratitude, saying, “Being a strong woman, my wife never showed it. But today, my wife is hale and hearty. The cancer incident made me realize that God had intervened on my behalf.”
Furthermore, the former governor recounted the heart-stopping moment when he and his team experienced a life-threatening situation. On their way to Abuja after the presidential primary, one of the aircraft engines exploded merely 15 minutes after takeoff.
“Fifteen minutes after takeoff at the air force base, we heard an explosion. The cockpit was immediately closed off. With one engine lost, the pilot deemed it safer to turn back to Port Harcourt. Before we landed, multiple ambulances and fire service trucks lined up as a precautionary measure. By the Grace of God, we landed safely. I didn’t share this information with anyone,” Wike shared.
The former governor made the decision to keep the majority of these incidents confidential, aiming to prevent his supporters from being unnerved, which might have resulted in their erratic behavior.
Wike’s testimony is a testament to his remarkable resilience, his wife’s strength, and the undeniable power of divine intervention. These awe-inspiring moments, filled with danger and adversity, have only further solidified his faith and belief in God’s guiding hand.
