Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson, has left fans and the public in awe with the shocking revelation of her past experience with rapper, Sarkodie, in her newly released book titled ‘I am Not Yvonne Nelson’.
In a chapter titled ‘A Difficult Decision’, Yvonne opens up about a complex situation she found herself in after becoming pregnant by the renowned Ghanaian musician, Sarkodie, who refused to take responsibility for the child.
Yvonne, who has always been candid about her life’s journey, expressed her struggle with deciding to abort the pregnancy. Being fatherless herself, she felt it was not fair to bring a child into the world without a responsible father figure.
The actress recounts the moment she discovered she was pregnant, revealing that it was a tumultuous time filled with uncertainty. In the presence of her friend Karen, she nervously awaited the result of a pregnancy test. Karen, who opened the test results, declared, “Charlie, it dey there!” Yvonne recalls.
Yvonne Nelson goes on to explain her relationship with Sarkodie, describing it as not a serious one but rather a close connection developed through their shared love for music. She reflects on the rapper’s budding career and the uncertainties surrounding his future at that time.
As she confronted the reality of becoming a single mother, Yvonne Nelson’s heartache stemmed from her own experience of growing up without a father. She could not fathom subjecting another child to the pain of rejection and abandonment that she had endured herself.
Contemplating the decision to terminate the pregnancy, Yvonne shared, “The first thing that hit me when he said no to keeping the pregnancy was my own life. I had grown up without a father in my life. I had often been reminded of how I had been borne by mistake.”
Yvonne Nelson reveals that her choice to proceed with the abortion remains one of her life’s most regrettable mistakes. She candidly expresses her remorse, stating that if given the chance to turn back time, she would have chosen to keep the child.
