The renowned legal counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mike Ozekhome, has written a letter to the Department of State Services (DSS), requesting that they allow Kanu to see his new doctors for essential medical treatment.

In a letter addressed to the secret police on Monday, Ozekhome expressed the urgency of the matter as Kanu’s previous doctor is currently out of the country. He explained that Kanu requires a surgical operation on his left ear, although the specific date has not been determined.

The highly respected Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Ozekhome, stated that two new doctors, Uche Ukwuije and David Ukoha, have confirmed their availability to assess Kanu’s condition and provide the necessary medical care. However, they wish to meet with Kanu in person to establish a formal agreement prior to commencing treatment.

The letter read: “The said doctors need to personally meet with our client for a formal agreement since he would be meeting them for the first time ever. It is against the backdrop of the foregoing that we respectfully request that the herein-named medical doctors be allowed access to our client for a formal engagement meeting.”

This plea for medical intervention comes amidst the recent controversy surrounding Kanu’s case. Kanu’s younger brother, Kanunta, recently declared that the services of Ozekhome and Ifeanyi Ejiofor were no longer required. It was alleged that Ozekhome had impeded the family’s attempts to have Kanu undergo a medical examination.

As the legal battle continues, the health and wellbeing of Nnamdi Kanu remain of utmost concern. The appeal from Ozekhome underscores the importance of providing Kanu with the necessary medical attention, ensuring that his rights to healthcare are upheld.
