Leandro Paredes beats Messi’s record after Argentina’s latest win

Argentina midfielder, Leandro Paredes, has beaten a record held by captain Lionel Messi after scoring a goal in his side’s friendly 2-0 win over Indonesia on Monday.

During the encounter at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Paredes launched a rocket from a distance, which settled in the back of the net.

His goal was from a distance of 31.4 meters which means he is now the player who has scored from the furthest distance under Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni.

Messi had held the record, converting from a distance of 28.9 meters against Uruguay in the past, according to Mundo Albicelest.

Meanwhile, apart from Paredes, Cristian Romero was the other goalscorer for La Albiceleste against Indonesia.
