NGX: All-Share Index Climbs By 0.16% in Bullish Trading Session

Lagos, Jun 20, 2023: It was a day of gains for the Nigerian Exchange on Tuesday as the equities market closed on a bullish note.

The all-share index recorded a 0.16% increase, closing at 59,261.23 basis points. This marked a gain of 95.17 points compared to Monday’s closing of 59,000.96 points. The market capitalisation also saw a slight uptick, rising by N52 billion to close at N32.185 trillion.

During the trading session, a total of 588.85 million shares, valued at N8.9 billion, were traded in 8,272 deals. The market witnessed 50 gainers and 19 losers.

Skyway Aviation Handling Company emerged as the top gainer, with a 10% increase in price to close at N7.70k. Following closely was Academy Press, which gained 10% to close at N1.98k. Chams also experienced a 10% rise, settling at a closing price of N0.44.

On the other hand, C&I Leasing recorded the highest loss, with a 10% decrease in price, closing at N4.05k. Cornerstone Insurance Company followed with a loss of 9.82%, closing at N1.01k. Secure Electronic Technology also experienced an 8.7% loss, closing at N0.42k.

As for the most traded stocks, United Bank of Africa took the lead with a volume of 78.5 million shares. Guaranty Trust Holding followed closely with 65.4 million shares.

Overall, the trading session on the Nigerian Exchange reflected positive sentiments, with market indices witnessing a marginal improvement. Investors remain cautiously optimistic as they navigate the ever-changing dynamics of the market.
