The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has come forward to clarify that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege did not work against the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 elections in the state. The party has instead attributed the opposition to Cairo Ojougboh and a group of detractors.
In an official statement signed by the Delta State APC Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the party revealed that Ojougboh and his group were actively undermining the party’s prospects within the state. According to the statement, they were seen “suckering up” to the national executive committee and the presidential campaign council during the campaigns.
Onojeghuo further explained, “They were also busy collaborating with the opposition to defeat APC candidates in both state and national elections. The only notable contribution they have made so far is to be caught on videography and photographs celebrating the electoral losses of the party in the state, alongside members of the opposition.”
The APC has urged President Buhari to disregard the “rantings” of Cairo Ojougboh, who was a former member of the party, as well as his group of detractors. It stated, “Their unnecessary distractions should not hinder the onerous task of nation-building ahead.”
