The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has voiced his “total disappointment” regarding the “lopsided representation” by Prince Clem Agba, the former Minister of State Budget and National Planning. In a statement released by Mr. Iguobaro Osaigbovo, the Chief Press Secretary to the monarch, Oba Ewuare expressed his dissatisfaction with Agba’s failure to extend ministerial benefits to Edo South and Edo Central senatorial districts.
The Oba made these remarks during a thank-you visit by Prince Clem Agba to the palace, where the Minister acknowledged the palace’s role in his appointment by former President Muhammadu Buhari. However, Oba Ewuare emphasized that Agba should have reciprocated the goodwill by promoting development across the entire three senatorial zones of the state, rather than engaging in what the Oba called “politics of disintegration.”
Furthermore, Oba Ewuare urged all Edo indigenes to utilize their positions of influence to attract growth and advance the welfare of the people in the state. The king noted that the former Minister of State Budget and Planning had fallen short of expectations.
