Nwifuru reacts to killing of INEC staff, one other in Ebonyi

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has reacted to the recent killings of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s staff, one Emmanuel Igwe and the Ohaneze youth leader’s father, Aja Okeafor, by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the state.

Media Talk Africa reports that the suspected herders also kidnapped the wife of the late INEC staff, and have been allegedly demanding ransom, though at the time of filing this report, she is yet to be freed.

The governor made this known while briefing newsmen in Abakaliki through the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Mr. Jude Okpor, shortly after the first executive council meeting.

According to him: “It is heartbreaking, but I want to assure you that the governor will not leave any stone unturned to tackle this. This kind of issue cannot be discussed in public.

“The governor has given the necessary directives, and I believe, in no distant time, the perpetrators of the heinous crime will be brought to justice,” he stated.
