Tinubu’s ministerial list: Former Imo Governor denies revolting against Uzodinma

In the lead up to President Bola Tinubu’s announcement of his cabinet, former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim, has vehemently denied claims of revolting against the incumbent Governor, Hope Uzodinma.

Reports had emerged stating that Ohakim had revolted against Uzodinma due to the latter’s alleged refusal to support his ‘bid’ for a ministerial appointment in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

However, Ohakim has dismissed these reports, labelling them as nothing more than figments of the writer’s imagination and the work of his sponsors. According to Ohakim, he has never revolted against Uzodinma.

Speaking about the incumbent Governor, Ohakim stated, “Revolting against Governor Uzodimma would be tantamount to revolting against myself. Nobody can revolt against himself. Or am I that foolhardy to revolt against a fellow whose performance as a Governor has been quite overwhelming and who is receiving daily accolades from the people of Imo State?”

In a statement he signed, Ohakim refuted the report suggesting that he led a group in Anambra State to perfect the alleged revolt plan. He clarified that he has not visited Anambra State in the last four years, contrary to the claims made in the report.

Furthermore, Ohakim insisted that he is not vying for a ministerial appointment in Tinubu’s administration. He stated, “I am not bidding for a ministerial appointment under the present administration. But even if I were, am I not intelligent enough to know that ministerial appointments are not obtained through leading or participating in a revolt against a sitting Governor or anyone else for that matter? Besides, ministerial positions are not bid for or contested.”
