The newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff, Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the military’s determination to combat terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities with utmost force.

Maj.-Gen. Musa made this vow during his assumption of command ceremony, taking over from the former defence chief, Gen. Lucky Irabor, in Abuja on Friday.

He emphasized that under his leadership, the military would spare no effort to ensure the security of Nigeria.

“As the CDS, I promise Nigeria that we will continue to enhance our mission of sustaining peace and tranquility in our country,” Maj.-Gen. Musa declared.

“I assure every Nigerian that they can feel safe, knowing that the armed forces are proactive, highly professional, and fully committed to their protection.”

He added, “No one should doubt our determination to bring peace to Nigeria. Criminals, bandits, terrorists, or anyone who thinks otherwise should be ready to face the consequences.”

“The Nigerian armed forces will deploy all their resources to ensure the safety and security of the citizenry,” he asserted.

Maj.-Gen. Musa also promised to prioritize the welfare of the military personnel, recognizing that well-cared-for soldiers are more likely to give their best performance.

“A well-fed and well-supported soldier will undoubtedly deliver optimal results,” he affirmed.

The former CDS, General Lucky Irabor, urged his successor to uphold the military’s core values and professional standards.

General Irabor expressed confidence in Maj.-Gen. Musa, describing him as a tested and trusted officer who embodies the ideals of the armed forces.

“I appreciate the president for selecting Maj.-Gen. Musa as the suitable candidate to lead the armed forces,” General Irabor commended.

“I urge you to redouble your efforts in maintaining the cherished values and professional standards of the military,” he added.

General Irabor also highlighted the achievements made during his tenure and expressed his optimism that the armed forces are in the right mindset to accomplish their objectives.

“Judging by the mood of the armed forces, they will support you and your team of service chiefs in upholding the professional standards of our armed forces,” he affirmed.

As the Nigerian military prepares to take on criminals, the nation anticipates greater efforts and successes in ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
