Tragic Incident Claims Lives of Three Miners in Tanjol Plateau

In a shocking turn of events, three miners lost their lives in a tragic shooting incident at a mining site near Tanjol in the Jol community of Riyom local government area in Plateau State. The incident, which occurred on Friday morning, has left the surrounding miners and farmers in fear, causing them to flee the area in search of safety.

Confirming the sad incident, Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Movement (BYM), expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of lives. He also informed that two other individuals were injured during the shooting which took place around 11am, catching everyone by surprise as they were going about their daily activities.

Calling for immediate action, Tengwong called upon the government and security agencies to step up their efforts in order to ensure the safety of lives and property in the rural communities. He emphasized that this incident is one in a series of attacks that have plagued the area, and the need for urgent intervention cannot be overstated.

Lamenting the continued wave of killings, Tengwong expressed his disappointment that despite the deployment of mobile police officers in the area, such acts of violence have persisted. This raises serious questions about the effectiveness of the security measures in place and highlights the need for a comprehensive strategy to combat these threats.

Efforts to seek a response from the Police Command in Plateau were unsuccessful as calls made to DSP Alfred Alabo, the Public Relations Officer, remained unanswered. It is hoped that the authorities will take swift action to investigate the incident and provide answers to the grieving families and concerned community members.
