Eid el-Kabir: TRACE Warns Unruly Motorists, Threatens Sanctions

The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has issued a stern warning to motorists to adhere to all traffic rules and regulations ahead of the 2023 Eid el-Kabir celebration.

In a statement released on Sunday, TRACE threatened to impound vehicles driven by individuals who flout traffic laws.

The statement, signed by TRACE spokesman Babatunde Akinbiyi, urged motorists to “strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations,” emphasizing that any vehicle found to have violated traffic rules during the celebration will not be released until Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, when TRACE’s Eid el-Kabir Operation Order concludes.

Akinbiyi emphasized that TRACE would ensure effective traffic management at Eid praying grounds in Ogun State. They will also provide 24-hour prompt rescue and emergency services on 12 major roads in the state before, during, and after the Eid el-Kabir celebration.

The Eid el-Kabir Special Patrol exercise is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 26th, and end on Monday, July 3rd, 2023, covering all major highways in the state, including the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Akinbiyi stated that the activities would involve monitoring motorists and other road users, regardless of vehicle size, to ensure the safety of lives and property on Ogun roads.

In the meantime, TRACE operatives have been advised to exhibit civility, professionalism, fairness, and firmness in the discharge of their duties, whenever necessary.
