EFCC Apprehends 49 Internet Fraudsters in Ekiti and Oyo States

In a major breakthrough, operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have successfully apprehended 47 suspected internet fraudsters. The arrests took place on June 23, 2023, in the Ikere Road and Iworoko areas of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, following actionable intelligence on their involvement in cyber fraud activities.

The crackdown resulted in the capture of several key individuals, including Adeyemi Joshua Adeniran, Ajaye Redmond Damilare, Nwaji Mathew, Jegede Boluwaji Victor, Oyetunji Sunday Wole, Damilola Awopetu Ayomide, and Ajayi Temitope Ayomide. This successful operation serves as a testament to the EFCC’s relentless pursuit of justice.

During the operation, law enforcement agents seized a considerable amount of evidence. Among the items recovered were 15 luxury cars, 16 laptops, 77 mobile phones, and various incriminating documents. These findings underline the scope and potential impact of the activities carried out by the suspects.

In a parallel development, the Oyo State Police Command also made a significant breakthrough in combating cybercrime. Two individuals suspected of engaging in fraudulent activities, Emiola Usman and Kamorudeen Quayum, were apprehended and subsequently handed over to the Ibadan Zonal Command of the EFCC. This collaborative effort emphasizes the shared commitment to eradicating cyber fraud across Nigeria.

The arrested individuals are currently undergoing comprehensive investigations by the EFCC. Once these investigations are concluded, they will be promptly arraigned in court to face the full extent of the law. The EFCC remains dedicated to ensuring that the perpetrators of cyber fraud are held accountable for their actions.
