In his first address as the newly appointed Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi pledged to remove obstacles and cultivate a fresh culture of consultation and compliance within Nigeria’s trade landscape.

Adeniyi made this commitment on Monday, shortly after assuming leadership of the NCS.

Highlighting a new era for trade at the country’s seaports and border points, Adeniyi declared, “I stand before you as the newly appointed Comptroller General, humbled and honored by the trust placed in me by our esteemed President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.”

He continued, “Throughout the past eight years, the Nigeria Customs Service has embarked on a transformative journey, focusing on reforms, restructuring, and revenue generation.”

“Today, we find ourselves at the threshold of an exhilarating future, one that builds upon past achievements and propels us further,” Adeniyi added.

Emphasizing the administration’s commitment to a bottom-up approach, where the nation’s needs take precedence, Adeniyi pledged to prioritize efficiency in service delivery as the foundation of trade facilitation and revenue generation.

“Gone are the days when trade was hindered by encumbrances. We shall dismantle obstacles and forge a new culture of consultation and compliance, for the attainment of our objectives,” Adeniyi asserted.
