The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, and his Deputy, Benjamin Kalu, have sent their warm greetings to Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid al-Adha celebration.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the significant holidays celebrated in Islam. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command.
Issuing a statement through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Speaker encouraged citizens to seize the opportunity of this festive occasion to pray for the success of the administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The statement also urged Nigerians to provide spiritual and moral support to all elected and appointed leaders across the country. In addition, Speaker Abbas called on citizens to embrace the virtue of sacrifice, exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, and contribute to the development and growth of our nation.
“I extend heartfelt congratulations to Muslims and all Nigerians as we celebrate another Sallah festival, following the successful conduct of the 2023 general elections, the inauguration of our new President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the formation of the 10th National Assembly,” the statement read.
In similar vein, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, expressed his felicitations to Nigerian Muslims and called on them, as well as other citizens, to exhibit love and patriotism. He emphasized the need for Nigerians to show greater respect for one another and engage in fervent prayers.
Kalu encouraged citizens to remain patriotic and peace-loving, while dedicating their prayers towards the tranquility and prosperity of Nigeria. Additionally, he appealed to Nigerians to engage in acts of kindness and humanitarian services by extending support to the less privileged in society.
