The acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has expressed his grief over the sudden passing of David Akinremi, the Ogun State Amotekun Commander. Akinremi, who retired as a Commissioner, succumbed to an undisclosed ailment on Sunday.
In an official statement released on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, the Acting IGP conveyed his condolences on behalf of the entire Nigeria Police Force. He extended his sympathies to the family, friends, and loved ones of Akinremi.
Describing Akinremi as a highly respected and distinguished member of the law enforcement community, Egbetokun acknowledged his unwavering dedication throughout his career. Akinremi joined the police force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1986 and served with distinction, making significant contributions to national safety and security.
The Acting IGP lauded Akinremi’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, protecting citizens’ rights, and maintaining peace within communities. He emphasized that Akinremi’s exemplary qualities contributed immensely to the nation’s security landscape.
