In a significant move, the Nigerian Navy has announced a major reshuffling of officer appointments, affecting a total of 56 Rear Admirals and one Commodore.
The Director of Information, Commodore Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan, released a statement on Thursday providing the names of the officers impacted by the reshuffling. The changes aim to promote efficiency and effectiveness in the Navy’s operations.
One of the key appointments involves Rear Admiral Olusanya Bankole, who previously served as the Director of Logistics at the Defence Space Administration. He has now been appointed as the Chief of Communications and Information Technology at Naval Headquarters.
Another notable change is Rear Admiral Alexander Bingel, who was previously the Director of Combat Policy and Tactics. Bingel has now assumed the role of Director of Logistics at Defence Headquarters.
Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu, who previously held the position of Director of Project Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Directorate at Naval Headquarters, has been appointed as the Chief of Defence Civil Military Cooperation at Defence Headquarters.
Rear Admiral Kennedy Ezete, who formerly served as the Director of Project Monitoring at Defence Headquarters, has been appointed as the Chief of Administration at Naval Headquarters.
Rear Admiral Livingstone Izu, who was the Director of Manning at Naval Headquarters, has taken on the role of Chief of Logistics at Naval Headquarters.
Furthermore, Rear Admiral Musa Madugu, who previously served as the Deputy Director of Special Operation Forces at Defence Headquarters, has assumed the position of Admiral Superintendent Naval Ordinance Depot.
Rear Admiral Daupreye Matthew, the former Director of Innovation and Concept Development at Naval Headquarters, has been reassigned as the Director of Training at Defence Headquarters.
Rear Admiral Zakariya Muhammad, who was the previous Director of Training at Naval Headquarters, has been reappointed as the Chief of Training and Operations.
The reshuffling also includes Rear Admiral Emmanuel Nmoyem, who has been reappointed as the Director of Human Rights Desks at Defence Headquarters. Additionally, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Shettima, the former Flag Officer Commanding Central Naval Command, has moved to Defence Headquarters as the Director of Plans.
Another significant appointment is Rear Admiral Monday Unurhiere, who previously held the position of Director of Plans at Naval Headquarters. Unurhiere has been appointed as the Chief of Defence Administration at Defence Headquarters.
Lastly, Rear Admiral Hamza Kaoje, who was formerly the Director of Equipment Standardization and Harmonization at Defence Headquarters, has been appointed as the Group Managing Director of Navy Holdings Limited.
These reshufflings aim to optimize the expertise and capabilities of the Nigerian Navy’s senior officers, allowing for improved leadership and strategic decision-making within the organization.
