Renowned Manchester United icon, Gary Neville, has expressed reservations regarding the Red Devils’ recent £60 million acquisition of Mason Mount.
Mount, who currently plies his trade at Chelsea, has agreed to join Erik ten Hag’s side at Man United for the upcoming season.
The English international endured a challenging season at Chelsea, featuring in only 35 matches across all competitions and scoring three goals.
However, Neville holds doubts about Mount being the ideal addition to the Man United squad, citing the presence of midfield stalwarts Casemiro, Fred, and Bruno Fernandes.
“To be honest, I’m surprised about the Mason Mount signing, especially considering the reported £60 million fee. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a very talented player,” Neville queried.
“But when I look at the caliber of players United already possess in the midfield, such as Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Fred, and Scott McTominay, I’m uncertain if Mount is the solution to all their midfield concerns,” added Neville during an interview with METRO.
