Governor Kefas Declares 24-Hour Curfew in Taraba Community

In response to the escalating violence and ongoing killings, Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has imposed a strict 24-hour curfew in certain areas of Karim-Lamido Local Government Council. The announcement was made on Sunday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Yusuf Sanda.

Over the past day, the communities of Wurkun and Karinjo have witnessed a surge in violence, resulting in numerous casualties and the destruction of valuable property estimated to be worth millions of naira.

The decision to enforce the dawn-to-dusk curfew was prompted by the renewed outbreak of communal conflicts within the local government council. Governor Kefas emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and urged all residents to comply with the new regulations.

The Governor has instructed security agencies to ensure strict adherence to the curfew. In a stern warning, he emphasized that any individual or group found violating the order would face legal consequences.

To ensure widespread compliance, Governor Kefas has directed ward heads, village heads, traditional rulers, and stakeholders in the council to play an active role in enforcing the curfew within their respective domains.
